Dersu Uzala (1975 - Akira Kurosawa)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071411/

Has anyone seen this?

One of Kurosawa's lesser known works, but still a great survival-oriented movie. It's about a Russian topographer and his adventures with a nomadic hunter who the movie is named after, set in 1902-05 siberia.

Yes.

Its one of my top five alltime best.

Not only for the methodology of a people

Who are well acquainted with surviving in a tough environment,

But also for reverse SHTF

- when civilization moves in -

Needless to say, I will not refer to the ending.

Looks like a good one. I'm a Kurosawa fan and I haven't seen that one yet, so thanks for the tip.

The movie poster reminded me of this one:

Kekexili (Mountain Patrol)
"A moving true story about volunteers protecting antelope against poachers in the severe mountains of Tibet. "
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386651/

Definitely worth a watch.
